Isla St. Clair at the Mearns Connections Festival

Isla St. Clair, well known singer and and hostess of The Generation Game, will be the star attraction at the 2016 Mearns Connections Festival on Saturday the 13th of August at the Grassic Gibbon Centre in Arbuthnott.

 

Isla is known to millions for her numerous television appearances including The Royal Variety Performance, The Morecambe and Wise Show and, most notably, as co-host with Larry Grayson on the BBC’s long running The Generation Game which won her “Best Female TV Personality.

 

Brought up on the Banffshire coast, Isla is one of Britain’s foremost traditional singers, noted for the depth of feeling she brings to her country’s music.

 

In a two-part evening, Isla will be in conversation with well-known host Jim Brown and will be be in concert where she will sing a variety of traditional songs and her own compositions. It promises to be a very entertaining evening with one of Scotland’s favourite singers and television personalities.

The Mearns Connections Dinner with guest speaker Hamish Vernal, Provost of Aberdeenshire, will take place on Friday the 12th of August. Mr Vernal will speak on the subject of Lewis Grassic Gibbon. Tickets for the Mearns Connections Dinner are £25. 

 

A Ballad Bus will tour some of the castles of the Mearns on Saturday. There will be a special service on Sunday morning and on Sunday afternoon, Dr Fred Freeman will present a lecture on the works of Lewis Grassic Gibbon.
