A fine modern building meticulously placed within the Aberdeenshire landscape. Cut into the hill its simple earthen forms echo prehistoric structures and contrast with the spare modernity of the glass and concrete atrium. The centre was officially opened by Time Team’s Tony Robinson on 16 June 1997 following several years planning and a total cost of £4million.
