Date:Friday 16th May 2014
Details: Aberdeen Food Blogger Claire Jessiman aka The Foodie Quine www.foodiequine.co.uk presents a Scottish Gin Tasting Event in conjunction with Dunnottar Wine & Spirits of Stonehaven. Shop Manager Lee Petrie will lead us through this informal but informative event where you will learn some of the history of Dutch Courage and Mothers Ruin. Gin has made a huge comeback in popularity in recent years which has seen the emergence of many small batch artisan gins each with their own preparation method and individual flavour.
Five Scottish Gins will be tasted on the night including - Gilt (based on single malt spirit) Pickerings (Scotland's newest Gin launched March 2014), Caorunn (infused with Celtic botanicals), and Old Raj (flavoured with saffron).
Expect Botanicals, Aromatics, Garnishes and Boutique Tonics. Expect to find out what makes the perfect G&T. Expect Lubrication and Education.
The evening will include a selection of Gin Inspired and Infused Canaps from Cool Gourmet. Think Gin Marinated Prawns, Gin Cured Salmon, Goats Cheese & Gin Pastry Bites, and a Gin Aoli with Crudities.

Details:Some background on the Creative Community Good Fund.....This is a fund which will be built up by artists and other creatives for artists and other creatives....The aim of the fund is to offer small grants to artists to enable them to get workshops, art shows, demonstrations, essentially, creative enterprise off the ground where overhead costs often make these things prohibitive....for example; two artists would like to run childrens' art workshops but the cost of hall hire when added to the cost of materials usually means that they would have to charge too much to break even let alone actually make a profit or even cover their time...so very often it is not viable to go ahead...or to put on an exhibition there is significant outlay without any guarantee of sales so again the risk is too great and the event doesn't go ahead.
The idea of CCGF is that it will become a resource to support local artists and to allow their activities to be commercially viable and at the same time be inclusive and give our local communities access to creativity. The fund in its existance will also provide more opportunities for artists as there will be scope to put on exhibitions or other activities to raise CCGF Funds. Any artist who has had access to the fund would be asked should their event or workshop be successful that they make a donation back to the fund. In addition we would take local donations and sponsorship to help build the amount available.
We are currently building a small committee to administer the fund and its projects should you be interested in helping please contact Jackie Niven.
Price: Donations welcome
